Your product isn't the problem

Hey Reader,

The most common message in my inbox right now is some version of this:

"I built a digital product, but nobody's buying it."

Whether it's a journal, a course, or something else entirely, it's finished, it's live on a store, and ...crickets.

A few views, no sales, and a lot of self-doubt.

"Is the product the problem?"

"AM I the problem?"

Here's what I've learned from my journey so far.

Initially, my first product didn't sell either. It was live, it was genuinely useful, and nothing happened.

Here's the mistake almost everyone makes, and one I made as well. We post: "I made something! Here's the link!" And then we're confused when nobody clicks.

Here's the hard truth:

Nobody wakes up wanting your product. They wake up with a problem.

Nobody wants a journal. They want to start organizing their thoughts.

Nobody wants a template pack. They want to stop rebuilding the same thing from scratch every week.

Nobody wants your course. They want to stop feeling stuck.

So instead of talking about the file, talk about the feeling.

Write for one specific person having a bad day, the exact day your product fixes. Describe it so accurately they feel caught. When someone reads a post and thinks "Wait, that's LITERALLY me!", they don't need to be sold to. They go looking for what you have.

And once you've got that person's attention, then you have to actually put the offer in front of them, clearly, and without apologising for it.

When you're ready to invest in learning how to build an audience that's actually listening and turn that attention into people buying, that's what my system is for. It's the whole path with the real numbers from my own account behind every piece of it.

Questions? Just reply to this email, I read them all!

Your biggest fan,
Alex

P.S. A product nobody's buying is a far better place to be than an idea you've never finished. Now it's just a visibility problem.

Alex Perikleous Time to read: 3 minutes Hey Reader, It's a tale as old as time... Someone finds a great posting, tailors the CV, writes the cover letter, and applies for the job. Three weeks of silence later, they find out the company froze hiring in June and never removed the job postings. 📊 What's going on? Per Greenhouse data, 18 to 22% of job postings are classified as ghost jobs, roles never really open, and almost 70% of the companies on the platform posted at least one in a single...

Hey Reader, It was just another typical morning in August 2021. Summer vacation was over and I was on my way to the office. I had a hybrid job at the time, so 2-3 office days per week were mandatory. I remember getting stuck in traffic (again) and wondering: "Is this really what the next 30-40 years will look like?" It was at that moment that I made a promise to myself: I was not about to let this be my path until retirement. I was going to figure this whole "remote work" thing out. After...

Hey Reader, Everyone I know has seen The Odyssey these days. Homer wrote the story about 2,800 years ago. Now we see its adaptation in IMAX. Ten years, one man, one impossible trip home. If you're currently hunting for a remote job (or really any job), you probably watched that film differently. You know the feeling of rowing towards an island that keeps moving. So let's talk about the map and the sailing instructions, shall we? The map The door is small. Indeed's Hiring Lab tracks remote and...
